Alfonso Soriano honored his mother by wearing pink shoes on Mother's Day. His mother Andrea died last year, but she remains a major influence on his life:
“She’s everything for me,” Soriano said. “I think of my mom every day. What she did for me, I can never forget.”Soriano created a benefit foundation in honor of his mother after she died. The Alfonso Soriano Family Foundation provides donations to families of children with disabilities and special health needs in both the Dominican Republic and the United States.
A number of other Cubs honored their mothers on this day as well.
