Kim Ng, the first woman assistant general manager in Major League Baseball history, recently left the Dodgers front office to join the MLB baseball operations department. Ng's new title is senior vice president of baseball operations. She will report to Joe Torre, the new executive vice president of baseball operations for MLB.
Ng worked with Torre as an assistant general manager in New York and Los Angeles. She has said her dream is to be an MLB general manager and she was mentioned for that position when the Mariners were hiring a general manager in 2008.
So, why is this on the Dominican Baseball Guy blog you ask. Well, because according to Ng, "there will be a lot of focus on the international operation and the Dominican Republic." Torre and Ng will be heading the team that replaces Sandy Alderson and works on issues facing MLB in the Dominican Republic.
