Dominican boxer Delvin Rodriguez loses title fight

Dominican boxer Delvin Rodriguez waited three years since his last title shot. He lost this one too Saturday night against World Boxing Association junior middleweight champion Austin Trout.

Rodriguez lost a unanimous decision and fell to Rodriguez (26-6-3) on his career. He was out-punched all night by the south paw Trout, and his few flurries of power punches were not enough to outscore his opponent.

In his other title shot, Rodruguez fought for the International Boxing Federation welterweight belt in August 2009, but lost a split decision to Isaac Hlatshwayo.

Rodriguez was born in the Dominican Republic, but moved to the United States as a teen with his family in order to pursue his boxing career. He grew up and fights out of Danbury, Connecticut. He is originally from Santiago, Dominican Republic.
